Tales of Summer: Part II

Legoland was a very fun stop for Logan and Aurora due to their love of Legos. It was fun for us to see the kids enjoy themselves. I think James and I enjoyed them having fun and also enjoyed Lego mini land. It was quite amazing to see cities (San Fransciso, Las Vegas, Washington D.C, etc.) all on a minature scale made of Legos. Talk about time consuming. We also enjoyed the Star Wars set up that had several different scenes from the six movies and also the Clone Wars series. We spent two days at Legoland and the waterpark. It was a balmy 67 degrees and overcast, so the waterpark was not quite as much fun since I was cold! The weather was a relief from the heat of OK, but chilly than I had hoped for :)

While in the southern part of CA, we stopped at the beach and saw surfers, walked on the longest wooden pier, ate at Tip Top Meats (seriously yummy!!!)

Our next stop in CA was up north in San Fransisco. Logan was in hog heaven. If you haven't guessed by now he had a lot to do with our choices of destinations for our summer vacation. Our drive up went well and we stopped in Oakland before heading across the Bay Bridge. James showed us where Grandpa Harmon lived when they used to visit. It was fun to hear about things that he remembered from being a kid. The Bay Bridge was lots of fun (just to hear an excited boy). We found our hotel and then headed out to Fisherman's wharf and Ghilerdelli Square. We ate at Grotto #9 and had hot chocolate at Ghilerdeli Square. The next day we headed to see the Golden Gate Bridge. We used different forms of transportation with the street cars, trolley, cable cars, and buses. Oh, can't forget walking up those hills and then down Lombard Street. We also went to China Town before heading to the Golden Gate Bridge. Wow!! It was windy and cold as we walked across that bridge. Logan's smile was about as big as it could get. We walked to the first tower and then headed below the bridge to see Fort something (blanked on the name right now). We walked around Golden Gate Park and just enjoyed the area.

We headed back to our home and had dinner at Grotto #9. James talked to the owner and we learned more about the history of the resteraunt. We did more walking around the area, before heading back to the hotel for the night.

Our last day in San Fransisco we watched Cars 2 before heading back to Las Vegas via a different route than I-5. There was less traffic and it was more scenic, so it was an enjoyable ride.

We wound down our trip with another couple days in Vegas before heading back to Grants. In Grants we enjoyed a trip to the Bluffs for a picnic, a overnight campout at Coal Mine Campground, and some fun family games. Is our summer over yet? Not quite. We enjoyed July at home with a visit from Mike, Jesse, and the cousins as they traveled through on to their new home in Virginia. Swim lessons kept us busy for the month of July and Aurora passed Level 2 (finally!).
