For the Memorial Day weekend we did head to Ft. Monroe to camp. We set up the tent after a bit if a struggle (it'd been a while so I couldn't quite remember how it went and I can't read diagrams) and asking for help. We took a twilight stroll on the beach and discovered crabs. It sprinkled a bit on us that night, but it was the wind that made it hard to sleep. Even though we finally got to sleep close to dawn we were up by 7 to catch the end of the sunrise, look for shells , and look for dolphins. We finally saw dolphins after we were almost ready to head back in. I don't have the best pictures or video. I have a tendency to get excited and show the sky or completely miss them as they move :). After cleaning up the tent site, we took a quick tour of Ft. Monroe. Once we were home it was nap time before heading to the Great Dismal Swamp. This is a neat area to explore, but Aurora's worst nightmare - bugs! Everywhere!! Even though she was wearing long sleeves and pants and we sprayed her, she has 17 mosquito bites. They really like her. We saw a blue tailed lizard, caterpillars, butterflies, neon green bugs and dragonflies. She faked the need to go to the bathroom to try and get the hike/walk over with and luckily when the butterfly landed on her nose and nothing could stop her wails we were pretty much at the parking lot. It was a great visit to help us as we put up the white flag during the SOL month of May. We only wish it could have lasted longer. ;)

Oh May, oh May
May is quite the month here. Solo parenting and also being the solo Sped teacher make things a bit harder to juggle. Due to some issues at school, it was time to call in reinforcements :). Thankfully all worked out and Mom was able to come and spend a week with us. Although we didn't do or see much during the week, it was nice to have help with dinner, housework, gardening, homework, and just relieve some of the day to day stress.
