We have enjoyed our Spring Break even if it hasn't been too springy with the temperatures. It started off nice with mom and dad coming into town for a visit. Logan had a slumber party the first night, so after dropping him off we had a "girls night out" with some ice cream. Dad was lucky and got to enjoy ice cream with us too :).
On Saturday, we headed down to Chickasaw National Recreation Area. It was a nice day to go for a hike, even if there wasn't a lot of water in the springs. The kids earned their newest junior ranger badge and we were on the lookout for birds to help Logan with his Naturalist pin.
Once Monday arrived, we went to the Myriad Botanical Gardens. It was beautiful to see the different flowers and butterflies. Aurora did not like the butterflies at all!! We looked around the park and then had a lunch downtown at a new place called "Sweets and Eats". It was a mom and pop type shop only open for lunch. It was really good. We enjoyed our chicken noodle soup, BLT sandwich, and taco salad. Guess who got what? :)
Logan worked more on activities for his Weblos badge. He made a beautiful terrarium and continued to work on his Naturalist, Citizen, and Fitness. The plan is to receive the Weblos badge in April and the Arrow of Light in May. Still more work to do, but he's working hard :)
The rest of the week was very laid back. We had several movie nights and watched all three of the Back to the Future, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and North Avenue Irregulars.
On Sunday, after church, we ran a 5k for the Earlywine dash. It was Aurora's first and Logan and my 3rd. Logan beat last year's time by 9 secs. His time was 42:01. Aurora wasn't quite as ready to run as she previously thought. She walked quite a bit (so I did too). Her time was 51:59 while mine was 52:00. It was 41 degrees for our run, but it felt like 32. We were happy to complete it. Logan waited for us at the finish and was only too happy for us to be done.
