Just about Jedi

Well, you know how we have been seeing the dentist alot about our teeth lately, Jedi did not want to be left out.  We took him to the Vet for a dental cleaning on Tuesday after two years of not getting a dental cleaning and boy did he need it.  He had not been eating his regular food very much, so we had started to get him some soft food so he would be eating.  He was eating that up.  After being on the soft food for about a week, we made an appointment with the vet for a cleaning.  We knew he would be losing some teeth as we took a peek.  Little did we know how many.  He lost 18 teeth!  Some of them just fell out as they were cleaning the tarter off.  A couple of them they did have to pull, but those were in the minority.  We felt like horrible pet owners.  The vet talked with James and let him know that some dogs just have bad dental genes.  Jedi would be one of those.  It has been recommended we go back in six months for about another cleaning (there might be a couple more that will have to go) and we need to start brushing his teeth regularly.  Jedi is nine years old (we celebrated his b-day back in December), so it makes me glad he's a small breed.  I wonder if doggie dentures would be necessary?  :)
